Inflatable Boats : Where Will Yours Go?

While Miranda unpacked some food into the cupboards of a rustic cabin, her husband, Robert, was unpacking the inflatable boat. The boat was a new addition to the gear they brought on their annual camping trip. Some of Robert’s boater friends had talked about inflatable boats with him and suggested that he try one. He was anxious to get the boat out on the lake and do just that.

By the time Miranda had finished with the food, Robert all ready had the boat inflated, and he asked her if she wanted to take part in the maiden voyage. “So, what do you think?” Robert asked his wife’s opinion.

“I’m surprised at how quickly you got it to inflate,” Miranda answered. “And I’m also glad we didn’t have to hook up that stupid boat trailer again this year. You don’t see right with that thing on the back of the car. It makes you reckless.”

Robert rolled his eyes and said, “Well, that’s neither here nor there, but you like the inflatable?”

“I do,” Miranda beamed.

“Did you know these boats are approved for up to class three whitewater?” Robert teased.

“Ha ha,” Miranda laughed sarcastically. “You’d break a hip, old man.”

Robert smiled at his wife of forty-three years. They’d been coming to this cabin for camping and boating since they were in their twenties. “Yeah, maybe not whitewater,” Robert acquiesced, “but that website where I got this boat had other types of inflatables too—inflatable kayaks and canoes ! Wouldn’t you like to inflate a canoe and paddle down a calm river?”

“Oh, you’re just like a child in a candy store,” Miranda sighed. “You get one piece, and you have to have another.” She grabbed her husband’s hand and squeezed.
